[edit] Inside the Dorm

Gilbert-Addoms boasts some of the more fun and functional spaces on East Campus. The G.A. deck offers picnic tables to spend a sunny afternoon sitting outside to talk with fellow residents. (There used to be swinging benches, but they were taken down during the fall semester of 2008.) Inside, there are two large commons rooms, one of which allow students a quiet space to study or a modestly-sized TV to watch/play games on. The other houses the Media Room, which comprises of a large flat-screen TV, a foosball table, a ping pong table, a pool table, an assortment of boardgames, and a piano. At any time of day, one can find residents relaxing here.

Gilbert-Addoms is also is home to the GA Down Under, a large multi-functional basement area for residents from across East Campus. Unfortunately for Gilbert-Addoms residents on rainy or cold days, it can only be accessed by leaving the dorm and walking to one of the entrances either in the truck loading dock area or on the other side of the building--both of which are relatively far from GA's entrance.

Regardless, it provides an excellent on-campus venue for performances, student groups and is also a great place to study, play pool, or attend Devils After Dark, a programming series every week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from 10PM - 2PM. The Down Under also contains the only computer lab on East Campus which runs Linux. As a result, the night before a major engineering assignment is due, it is not unusual to see half a dozen engineering students hard at work there.
